An amazing book by Kay Redfield Jamison studies the relationship of artists, writers, and poets, their mental state, and the effects of mood on productivity.
A fascinating text that reveals the mysterious statistics of famous artists who were known to have some type of mental disorder. Some of who are considered to have obtained success in creativity because of said mental disorder.

This does not suggest that every artist has a disorder, or needs to have extreme mental issues in order to create... it's just a very interesting connection, one that is deemed true among many cases.

Art therapy is a mental health profession that uses the creative process of art making to improve and enhance the physical, mental and emotional well-being of individuals of all ages. It is based on the belief that the creative process involved in artistic self-expression helps people to resolve conflicts and problems, develop interpersonal skills, manage behavior, reduce stress, increase self-esteem and self-awareness, and achieve insight.A "profession"... when art is more than a career, but a therapeutic means to help people, help those to develop their personal mentality. It's a very curious subject when following the effects of an unknown mind.
